Abstract

From the point of view of semiotics, the potential for the development of small historical cities in the central part of Russia is considered (on the example of the Tver region). The natural-climatic and socio-cultural features of the region are determined. A characteristic feature of small historical settlements is the presence of rivers and reservoirs. The role of water areas and coastal territories in creating a comfortable urban environment is analyzed. It is noted that the re-design of the contours of the coastline and the plastic treatment of adjacent areas opens up new opportunities for creating a multifunctional and comfortable environment. It is shown that the transformation of water areas and adjacent areas into structural elements of the future recreational framework ensures the unhindered movement of citizens and tourists along the shores; the organization of theatrical actions and concerts in the open air; the compositional diversity and the systematic nature of the visual series of sections of the coastline.
